Activity - Intrinsic Skill/Stress

Activity – Intrinsic Skill/Stress

Rome II – Total War

In Rome II, a stress situation is when you are in the battlefield, your army in formation, and the enemy army starts charging at you. At this moment you have a small period of time to choose whether to also charge at the enemy, to back of, or just to keep steady.
The Intrinsic Skill present in Rome II comes in the form of being able to use military strategy in your favor. There are thousands of different possibilities of how you can lead your army, of 500, or even 15000 men, in a battle. You can choose if you are going to bring a certain number of archers, swordsmen, spearmen, cavalry, artillery, ballistas, dogs or even elephants. You have to decide every action that each group of men in your army takes, like when your archer should start firing arrows, for example.

This game has a high absolute difficulty. You have to be able to think very fast, and strategize how you are going to be able to win a battle, sometimes against armies much bigger than yours.

Activity 4 - Strong Personality

Activity 4 – Strong Personality

Dad

My father has a really strong personality. He is 67 years old, so he lived 50 years more than I did. He has gone through a lot his whole life, and he is a very experienced man. He has lived in more than one country, fought in Brazil’s army special forces for a couple of years, worked in several different jobs, and had two other children before me (today 35 and 37 years old).
One thing that demonstrates my dad’s strong personality is that whenever someone does something (anything), he already knows the consequences, and what is going to happen next. I mean that he has gone through several experiences that happen around him today, and he knows how these experiences end. This makes him get really mad a lot, and angry with the people around him often.

Otherwise, my dad is the sweetest man if you actually get to know him. He is the best person to talk to that I know. He is very unique.

Activity 3 - NES Games

Activity 3 – NES Games

Platform Games

I like platform NES game the most compared to other genres because I see these games as the ones that most marked this period of gaming, like Mario and Metroid. I also like how these games are really long, and take a lot of time and effort to end. By being separated in different levels, players get to play over and over again and get more and more used to each level, knowing them better every time they play, and getting better at the level.

Other than Mario, I played the Mike Tyson game (Sports) and Tetris (Puzzle). I didn’t like them as much. Mike Tyson game is one that would for sure work better with better technology, while Mario is perfect the way it is, and shouldn’t be changed. With Tetris, the game is too constant. It doesn’t change in any way in any moment. There is only one way of winning, while in Mario, you can just run past all boxes and monsters, or go killing them all. The player has more freedom to choose how to play the game.
